| ESKAKWA ECO LODGE is the only privately owned outpost lodge within the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Wilderness Park. Nestled in a pristine setting, surrounded by 250 year old-growth pine forests and perched over a 10-meter waterfall, it’s one of the most unique rustic lodges in Canada. The original log cabin was built for a group of American sportsmen in 1930 by the Temea Augama Anishnabe, the First Nations people of the Temagami area from Bear Island. To learn about the history of “cabin falls” please check out Hap Wilson’s recent book, The Cabin, available on-line.
