Our Temagami Eco-Lodge is one of Canada's most unique wilderness outposts. Located atop "Cabin Falls" in the middle of the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Wilderness Park, there is no place like it in Ontario. Miles of private hiking trails and short canoe treks will take us to seven different waterfalls along the magnificent Lady Evelyn River. Four-day retreats begin with a floatplane trip from Temagami in to the park and a short canoe excursion downriver to the lodge. Accommodation is rustic elegance, replete with dining hall, sauna, large decks overlooking the falls, pure springwater and meals cooked on a wood cookstove. Each day is a different adventure in photography - shooting waterfalls is our prime theme but there is so much more to these classic Temagami adventures. Hap Wilson has guided many well-known photographers...Len Gilday of David Suzuki's "Nature of Things" and International photographer Graham Uden who were immediately attracted to Temagami's old-growth pine forests and Lady Evelyn's remarkable beauty. Our spring trip takes a look at the force of Nature through the power of water and an awakening wilderness; summer trips enjoy the flushed beauty of a pastel backdrop (not to mention the great swimming in the pools at the eco-lodge); fall explores the burgeoning colourama as diminished river-flow accentuates each channel and fissure as water tumbles over granite.
Eco-Lodge adventures are limited to six persons per session; costs include two floatplane flights in and out of the park, guide service, accommodation and meals at the lodge. Ask us about other dates if the advertised schedule doesn't work for you or your group. PLEASE BOOK EARLY.

ESKAKWA ECO LODGE is the only privately owned outpost lodge within the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Wilderness Park.  Nestled in a pristine setting, surrounded by 250 year old-growth pine forests and perched over a 10-meter waterfall, it’s one of the most unique rustic lodges in Canada. The original log cabin was built for a group of American sportsmen in 1930 by the Temea Augama Anishnabe, the First Nations people of the Temagami area from Bear Island.  To learn about the history of “cabin falls” please check out Hap Wilson’s recent book, The Cabin, available on-line.
The retreat today can accommodate up to 12 participants and sleeping arrangements can be divided between the original log cabin and the new lodge for mixed gender groups. A variety of first class gourmet meals are provided each day, usually with breakfast and dinner served in the dining cabin and lunch provided on the trail. Meals and fresh-baked goods are prepared in our woodstove and special dietary requirements can easily be accommodated. The lodge is blessed with a natural spring close by for fresh and clean drinking water.

Eskakwa eco-lodge is surrounded by old-growth pine forests, and natural swimming pools in the river. There are several other magnificent waterfalls nearby, all part of "The Golden Staircase", a series of 7 waterfalls along the north and south channels of the Lady Evelyn River. Also surrounding the cabins are fabulous hiking trails and scenic lookouts, as well as some whitewater "runs" and great natural brook trout fishing areas. Participants can sketch, carve, photograph or just quietly observe the surrounding flora and fauna and learn about the rich history of this ancient land.
